NNPC dispels rumours of planned increase in pump price of fuel

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has dispelled rumors of a planned increase in the pump price of fuel.

NNPC’s Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Peter Ohi-Alegbe gave the clarification today in Abuja, during a telephone conversation with Nigeria Info.

Mr Ohi Alegbe who blamed the current fuel shortages on hoarding and panic buying, said the Department of Petroleum Resources are monitoring and will sanction any sharp practices by marketers and dealers.

The NNPC spokesman was responding to questions as a guest on popular radio station, Nigerian Info Abuja,Mid Day Dialogue, however assured that the current fuel queues will disappear before Monday

You will recall that the current fuel shortages began last Friday, with many Nigerians still at a loss as to the actual cause of the scarcity.
